Below is a sample concept map.  Remember, for this activity, a concept map should be an outline of the information which you have gathered.

Instructions

  1. The main idea is your assigned topic. Then list 3-4 important facts about your topic.  Under each fact, you can list several other smaller facts.      
  2. Remember to draw links connecting major ideas to one another.
  3. Write labels on the lines that describe how one concept links to another.
  4. Draw cross-links that relate concepts in one part of the map to concepts in another part of the map. (Cross-links should have an arrowhead that indicates the intended direction of the relationship.)
  5. Remember that there are many correct ways to map the same set of concepts.  If your group is unable to agree, you may split into no more than 2 groups and design two different concept maps.  Remember you are graded on cooperation and you will need to use your information to complete your group PowerPoint presentation.
